The WWE's relationship with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has never been without controversy.

The company has been hosting events in the KSA for ten years now, and is six years into a more formal decade-long strategic partnership.

Initially, women were banned from wrestling. Then there was the fallout of the brutal murder of Jamal Khashoggi.

Stars like Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, John Cena, Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan sat out at least one of the shows. Then the infamous "travel issues" saw a number of wrestlers stuck on the KSA runway.

At the same time, the events have continued. They've gone from glorified house shows to established PPV events, even can't-miss events for the WWE calendar like Elimination Chamber in 2022.

And the WWE can successfully argue that it's been part of a gradual change in KSA, with Lacey Evans and Natalya wrestling there in 2019, albeit in modified ring gear, and women appearing at subsequent events.

And after the first "Queen's Crown" accolade was won by Zelina Vega at Crown Jewel in 2021, the country is hosting the first proper Queen of the Ring final.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia is being tentatively welcomed back into the community of nations, as complex and unpleasant global events continue to unfold in ever more unpredictable directions.

With all that said, WWE King and Queen of the Ring 2024 takes place at the Jeddah Super Dome in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, France on Saturday, May 25, 2024.

There's a show start time of 6pm in the UK and 1pm ET/10 am PT in the US.

And this time, the King (and Queen) of the Ring crown and sceptre isn't just a comedy gimmick... it has some real title ramifications.

King of the Ring Final: Gunther vs. Randy Orton [winner gets a world championship match at SummerSlam]

Despite the strength and experience of Randy Orton, we're brave enough to say that this has Gunther written all over it.

A record-breaking NXT UK champ, a record-breaking IC champ, Gunther is a born winner and born champion.

It's surely a matter of time until he gets one of the biggest titles in the WWE, and the King of the Ring crown comes with a guaranteed championship match at SummerSlam.

This is a two-for-one opportunity he won't want to pass up.

Sure, Randy is an all-timer, first-ballot hall-of-famer, and he's far from at the end of his career, despite the injuries coming a little more frequently these days.

But this is Gunther's.

Queen of the Ring: Lyra Valkyria vs Nia Jax [winner gets a world championship match at SummerSlam]

A lot of VERY big names have fallen by the wayside to leave us with our two finalists here.

And it's not an easy decision to pick between Lyra Valkyria and Nia Jax.

Lyra has impressed ever since she's been in the WWE, first at NXTUK, then NXT proper. But she's not been on Raw long.

And for all her strength and power and experience, Nia has often flattered to deceive when it comes to pulling the trigger and winning the big one.

But here we're going to give Nia the W. She's got that main roster experience and desire to bend and break the rules when necessary that could make the difference.

PREDICTION: Nia Jax

Women's World Championship: Becky Lynch (c) vs Liv Morgan

A general rule we have when making WWE predictions is "NEVER bet against The Man".

She's had her occasional downs among her many, many ups, but Becky Lynch never gives less than 100%, and she never relinquishes a title easily.

But Liv Morgan is an ex-champ herself and it very much feels like she's building up a head of steam at the moment.

She was the one that put previous champ Rhea Ripley on the shelf, and she'll want to dethrone Bex to cap off her revenge tour in the best way possible.

It won't be clean. It won't be pretty. But she might just do it.

PREDICTION: Liv Morgan

Undisputed WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes (c) vs Logan Paul

After climbing the mountain, the big question is what you do when you get there.

Cody Rhodes is already making steps with his new story after finishing his last one.

He overcame AJ Styles in a barnstormer at Backlash France, and now he's got a very different opponent.

WWE Intercontinental Championship: Sami Zayn (c) vs Chad Gable vs Bronson Reed [Triple Threat Match]

Sami Zayn has been nestling nicely into his role as IC Champion since dethroning Gunther at WrestleMania, and he's almost immediately got a brutal challenge to his reign.

A newly-turned Chad Gable (with Otis by his side) would be one thing, given his recent history with SZ, but then you've got the wildcard of Bronson Reed in the mix.

Bronson is absolutely not a competitor to be taken lightly, and it's almost certain that his presence will be the difference make here.

But our prediction is that it'll be Chad Gable who takes advantage of the melee and make Sami Zayn's latest time as IC champ a short one.

WWE Women's Tag Team Championship: Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill (c) vs Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell

It's easy to always favour the more-established team in these sorts of matchups, but that's not what's happening here.

Firstly, the newer duo have the gold, and champion's advantage counts for a lot.

Secondly, and more importantly, this is Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill we're talking about.

Both are bold and strong enough to back themselves even if this were a 1-on-2 handicap match against the former NXT champs.

Put them together, and only a major disagreement between them will stop them retaining the gold.
