McVitie’s has just launched new Gold Bar-inspired digestive biscuits, and fans already seem to be obsessed.

Merely days after landing in UK supermarkets, shoppersare calling them “an absolute game-changer”.

You may remember that just a couple of weeks back now, the popular confectionary company grabbed headlines for quietly dropping a new cocoa-flavoured variation on the humble Rich Tea biscuit in Tesco stores nationwide, and this wasn’t long after it also launched new cola bottle-flavoured Jaffa Cakes in UK Asda stores too – which was one of the first non-fruity flavoured ventures for the beloved sweet treat.

And now, it looks McVitie’s is at it again, as it’s just taken two of its classic and massively-loved products and combined them into one for the first time ever.

That’s right, we’re talking Gold Bar meets digestive biscuit.

There’s no denying that gold chocolate has had a bit of a resurgence as of late, but we all know that the Gold Bar is one of the OGs.

Described simply as being the classic Digestive biscuit topped with golden caramel from a Gold Bar, this stunning new collaboration biscuit has apparently been created to build on the success of the McVitie’s Gold Billions Wafer – which launched last year, and went down an absolute treat.

McVitie’s parentcompany, Pladis, says it wanted to take the popularity of gold confectionary and “bring it to the nation’s number one biscuit”.

The company says the “signs of success” for McVitie’s Gold Digestives are “strong”.

“We’ve got a great track record when it comes to innovation for both McVitie’s Gold and McVitie’s Digestives, and we have an established passionate fanbase who have been petitioning for this launch,” explained James King, who is the Marketing Director for McVitie’s at Pladis UK&I.

Since launching nationwide, foodie fans have been rushing to stores and taking to social media in droves to share their take on the new biscuit treat.

One fan has simply called them “an absolute game-changer”.

“They taste banging, absolutely delish,” another fan wrote on Instagram, while a third commented: “Seeking these out ASAP”, a fourth added: “They’re an absolute hit, to be fair”, and a fifth described them as “so good” and “gorgeous”.

McVitie’s Gold Digestives have now landed on Sainsbury’s supermarket shelves nationwide, and will set you back just £1.99 per pack.

‘Beyond blessed’ – Jack Grealish and girlfriend Sasha Attwood announce they’re expecting a babyEmily SergeantMcVitie's has just launched new limited-edition Gold Bar digestives (6)

Jack Grealish and his girlfriend Sasha Attwood have announced that they are expecting their first child together.

The Manchester City star and his partner shared the exciting news with fans this week.

The Birmingham-born couple – who are both 28-years-old, and are childhood sweethearts, having been reportedly dating since their high school days in Solihull – each took to social media to share with their millions of followers that they are “beyond blessed” to be welcoming their first baby into the world later this year.

The footballer posted a photograph of himself hugging Attwood from behind, with both of their hands over her pregnancy bump.

“Life’s biggest blessing,” Grealish wrote on his Instagram post.

As well as the Manchester City andEngland winger revealing the news, Attwood also made the pregnancy announcement on her own Instagram too – where she has 269,000 followers, at the time of writing.

The young model lovingly wrote: “Half of me, half of you.”

Grealish, who is soon to be back training with City ahead of pre-season, following missing out on England manager Gareth Southgate‘s final 26-man Three Lions squad for UEFA Euro 2024, has received an outpouring of love and support from dozens of his fellow players, both at club and international level, on the announcement.

Striker Erling Haaland and goalkeeper Ederson are among the City stars to comment on Grealish’s Instagram post, while Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, Declan Rice, Aaron Ramsdale, and Ezri Konsa are among the current England players to also show support.

Jude Bellingham given suspended one-match ban and fine for ‘inappropriate’ gestureDanny JonesMcVitie's has just launched new limited-edition Gold Bar digestives (8)

England and Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham has been handed a suspended one-match ban after making a gesture towards the Slovakia fans following the Three Lions’ last-gasp win in the round of 16 of Euro 2024.

Bellingham scored what has already gone down as one of the greatest England goals of all time to equalise against their first knockout opponents of the tournament to put them through to the quarter-final stage.

However, it was his celebrations in the immediate aftermath following the goal that got him into a little bit of trouble, as a small gesture towards his genitals has seen the Madrid midfielder pick up a fine and a one-match ban that he will thankfully he doesn’t have to serve any suspension immediately.

ln case you missed it, this is the moment in question, as reshared by the player himself:

🥱❌- An inside joke gesture towards some close friends who were at the game. Nothing but respect for how that Slovakia team played tonight.🤝🏽

— Jude Bellingham (@BellinghamJude) June 30, 2024

As you can see, Bellingham shrugged off the gesture as nothing more than an “inside joke towards some friends” who were in attendance inside Gelsenkirchen’s Veltins-Arena and clearly wasn’t willing to indulge any suggestion that he meant any offence despite the crude gesture.

Regardless, UEFA’s ethics and disciplinary body, unfortunately, hasn’t seen it that way; they stated that he violated “the basic rules of decent conduct” with the celebration, being slapped with a €30,000 fine (approximately £25k) and the match ban.

They did go on to explain that the ban is “subject to a probationary period of one year, starting from the date of the present decision”, meaning that it will only have to be served if the 21-year-old re-offends in the next 12 months.

A big relief for England supporters after he helped keep them in the game with his second goal in a competition where Gareth Southgate‘s side has still struggled to really get going.

While Bellingham will be available for Saturday’s match against Switzerland, another player received a harsher punishment for his reaction following a goal at this year’s Euros.

Turkey defender Merih Demiral has been handed a straighttwo-match banfor a politically associated gesture he made during his side’s previous win, doing the wolf salute celebration after the second goal of his brace against Austria.

The gesture is linked to the far-right Grey Wolves extremist group, who are also closely linked with Turkey’s ruling coalition National Movement Party. Bellingham’s behaviour pales in comparison when sized up against potentially inflammatory instances like this.

Meanwhile, back in the England camp, there is another member of the squad who Three Lions fans will be hoping can make an impact in upcoming games – we can only hope.
